Update. #ActionLab is a #crowdsourced collection of practical actions "for the various issues scientists are facing in the wake of destructive anti-science policies. Filter our database by action type, by location, by deadline, or by the amount of time you have to spend today. Find a way to act that is right for you."

Update. #CoherentDigital launches Policy Commons 2025 Open Collection.

"It's our contribution to the ongoing effort to rescue, preserve and make open endangered government materials at risk of disappearing…Our focus will be on policy and technical reports, papers, documents, blogposts, videos, and podcasts but we're open to suggestions for other content types - except for datasets. There are a number of excellent ongoing efforts to rescue data so there's no need for us to replicate them…Our goal is to make these materials easy to find and permanently available…We’re calling on librarians and researchers to help identify endangered materials from government agencies and suggest at-risk websites and repositories. We're also inviting those who have been working closely with agencies to send us copies of previously open materials they may have on their hard drives and laptops."

4/ But #OATP can't be the only #crowdsourced component of this project.

First, many people who'd like to contribute would rather post to #SocialMedia or contribute to #Wikipedia than tag for a tagging project.

Second, the scope of OATP has is narrower than many contributors would like.

Third, OATP itself has an uncertain future.

3/ The Mastodon work is essentially solo. There are no "guest posts" on Mastodon accounts tho I do boost the posts of others.

By contrast, the OATP work is collaborative and #crowdsourced. Most of the items that we capture on these topics we tag with "oa.trump47". Here's what we've tagged so far:

If you want to tag for OATP and help this cause, here's how to get started or see what's involved.

Update. If you're following this thread, you should also follow the Data Rescue Project by visiting its web site and subscribing to its email list. It aims "to serve as a clearinghouse for #data rescue-related efforts and data access points for public US governmental data that are currently at risk." And it's #crowdsourced, which gives it fighting chance to be comprehensive and up to date.

If you're on #Bluesky, also follow its B account.

I'm very aware that a solo effort, like this Mastodon thread, doesn't scale to the size of this task and I welcome the arrival of a crowdsourced effort. I will use it and refer people to it.

Data Rescue Project · About Data Rescue ProjectThe Data Rescue Project is a coordinated effort among a group of data organizations, including IASSIST, RDAP, and members of the Data Curation Network. Our goal is to serve as a clearinghouse for data rescue-related efforts and data access points for public US governmental data that are currently at risk.

The Open Access Directory (#OAD) just launched its new list of university rights-retention OA policies.
oad.simmons.edu/oadwiki/Univer

There are already different lists around the web for uni policies taking different approaches to rights retention. This an attempt to capture them all.

Remember that OAD is a #crowdsourced #wiki and depends on the #OA community to keep it current and comprehensive.
