Start showing up for their meal drop offs or their trash pick-ups or whatever it is that they’re doing. Discover that it’s simpler and more fun than you imagined. So a couple weeks ago, a buddy of mine at my old job from the late 00s, early 10s, mentioned that his right-hand guy was leaving, so I applied. Darcy just called, and I start training on Monday at 8. Holy fuck. I think the stress is slowly dissipating. It's been over 6 months since I've worked. A few very generous folks here donated money. Thank you again; #MutualAid is a vital part of Fediverse. I won't forget your generosity.

I'll be working produce again. The department is a lot smaller than at my last produce job, so hopefully it won't be super stressful. Fingers crossed.

Don't get me wrong, we need #mutualaid right now. But it needs to be in more forms than just money. Here's why:

I think financial mutual aid is not a lasting solution for any of us, because in the end, anyone who is nice enough to donate is going to end up needing to be donated to long before those they helped out are free of their situations.

This leaves us further in poverty, the only difference is the crabs in the bucket are trying to help each other climb out of it instead of fight each other. But few to none of them are yet nipping the hands of the fishermen, let alone overwhelming them and getting off the boat SS Capitalism. Getting to that point requires thinking outside the bucket.
