Since they are obviously highly interested in rewriting history to suit their agenda, the Wayback Machine is going to be seen as an obvious threat.</p><p>And taking them down is probably not going to be hard. Not only is the Internet Archive an US-based organization, but they are already in legal jeopardy due to their "National Emergency Library" and their hosting of a lot of copyrighted material which is easily legally available.</p><p>So... _do_ we have a backup plan for preserving the digital history of the Internet - one hosted in a jurisdiction that is safer (for now)? mmcm<p>Hey <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.archive.org/@internetarchive" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>internetarchive</span></a></span> I'm trying to find some details on how you operate, and notably where your servers are hosted and mirrored. It would seem the US isn't terribly reliable soil for this kind of thing any longer, especially when it comes to certain material. Any chance there's a way for non-US home servers to chip in with a few TiB here or there?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/internetArchive" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>internetArchive</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/censorship" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>censorship</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/DEI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DEI</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/trump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>trump</span></a></p>
